Scale invariant gravity and the quasi-static universe

چکیده
We highlight the fact that the lack of scale invariance in the gravitational field equations of General Relativity results from the underlying assumption that the appropriate scale for the gravitational force should be linked to the atomic scale. We show that many of the problems associated with cosmology and quantum gravity follow directly from this assumption. An alternative scale invariant paradigm is proposed, in which the appropriate scale for General Relativity takes the Universe as its baseline, and the gravitational force does not have any fixed relationship to forces that apply on the atomic scale. It is shown that this gives rise to a quasi-static universe, and that the predicted behaviour of this model can resolve most of the problems associated with the standard Big Bang model. The replacement of Newton’s gravitational constant in the quasi-static model by a scale-dependent re-normalisation factor is also able to account for a number of astronomical observations that would otherwise require adhoc explanations. Some of the implications of scale invariant gravity for Planck scale physics, quantum cosmology, and the nature of time are discussed.

Noether Symmetry in f(T) Theory at the anisotropic universe
As it is well known, symmetry plays a crucial role in the theoretical physics. On other hand, the Noether symmetry is a useful procedure to select models motivated at a fundamental level, and to discover the exact solution to the given lagrangian. In this work, Noether symmetry in f(T) theory on a spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi type I universe is considered. We discuss the Lagran...
متن کاملNon-singular Cosmology in Modified Gravity
A non-singular cosmology is derived in modified gravity (MOG). The universe begins in the distant past in a contracting de Sitter phase, is non-singular at t = 0 and then describes approximately the standard radiation dominated solution before the time of decoupling. The spacetime in the neighborhood of t = 0 is described by Minkowski spacetime in which the Weyl curvature tensor vanishes and th...
متن کاملCosmological evolution of scale-invariant gravity waves.
The evolution of scale-invariant gravity waves from the early universe is analyzed using an equation of state which smoothly interpolates between the radiation dominated era and the present matter dominated era. We find that for large wavenumbers the standard scale-invarant wavefunction for the gravity wave severely underestimates the actual size of the gravity wave. Moreover, there is a defini...
متن کاملScale-Invariant Rotating Black Holes in Quadratic Gravity
Black hole solutions in pure quadratic theories of gravity are interesting since they allow the formulation of a set of scale-invariant thermodynamics laws. Recently, we have proven that static scale-invariant black holes have a well-defined entropy, which characterizes equivalent classes of solutions. In this paper, we generalize these results and explore the thermodynamics of rotating black h...
متن کاملReassessment of the GZK cutoff in the spectrum of UHE cosmic rays in a universe with low photon - baryon ratio Robin
A prediction of standard Big Bang cosmology is that the observed UHECR (ultra-high-energy cosmic rays) spectrum will exhibit a cutoff at the GKZ limit, resulting from interaction with the photons that constitute the cosmic microwave background. We show that for the Quasi-Static Universe (QSU) model, in which photon energy is an invariant in the cosmological reference frame, the photon number de...
